The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati awards $25,000 for Haiti medical relief efforts; matches donations of staff and board
Fund is open to public for further donations
The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati today announced the donation of $25,000 to Partners in Health, a healthcare delivery organization currently providing medical care to people being evacuated from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. More information on Partners in Health’s work in Haiti can be found at www.standwithhaiti.org. The Health Foundation’s subsidiary, InterAct for Change, has also established the Haiti Medical Relief Fund to accept public donations specific to healthcare efforts in Haiti.
“The Health Foundation and InterAct for Change are in a position to respond to the current, overwhelming need for medical care in Haiti,” said Don Hoffman, CEO of the Health Foundation. “Partners in Health is an organization deeply committed to providing healthcare in Haiti, which it has been doing for over 20 years.”
Although the Health Foundation limits funding to a 20-county region surrounding Cincinnati, the healthcare needs of the people of Haiti “are so severe that we found a way to help our Haitian neighbors,” Hoffman continued.
“The people of Greater Cincinnati remain our number one priority. But in this time of great need, we were compelled to respond to the health crisis faced by Haitians,” said Health Foundation board chair Eileen Cooper Reed.
The public is invited to contribute to the InterAct for Change - Haiti Medical Relief Fund. Donations to this special fund at InterAct are tax-deductible and will go to medical and healthcare efforts in Haiti.
The Health Foundation is also matching donations from its staff and board to the Haiti Medical Relief Fund on a 2:1 basis, for a total of up to $37,500 more in funding.
